Our Little Chef

I've been trying to find new ways to entertain Ammon during the day so that he is a little less like Godzilla and a little more like the sweet child I know he can be. So yesterday we tried baking!! I thought of it that morning (of course) right before nap time so we had to wait till later to give it a go. In the mean time while I was waiting (because cookies really actually sounded amazing right about then) I decided to make Ammon his very own apron. I have to say (caution: self back-patting) it turned out pretty stinkin cute. We made the cookies, got messy, dropped eggs and had a total blast! He totally LOVED IT! Then he wouldn't take the apron off for hours. And while it's definitely hectic baking with a toddler, I think I may have struck gold!!

So...I forgot to mention that Luke is a little ummm...crazy. At four weeks count em 1...2...3...4 he decided that he was king of the world or something and felt that it was perfectly acceptible for said king to ROLL OVER! WHAT? So yea, ever since, anytime we put him on his tummy, if he doesn't like it whoop right over to his back as good as any 4 month old. Whats next? Crawling at two months? These Messegees, all a bunch of over achivers (hehehe) Not that I wasn't talking clearly at 7 months or anything. It'a just funny and kinda scary when your kids exceed (by miles) your expectations and you realize just how capable they are. He has been very very sweet to have around. He has reflux which has been very sad for him but he seems to be doing much better. In other news, we'll be blessing him at the end of this month (the week before conference) We'll post cute pictures when it happens!

I feel like such a little homemaker today! Wow I'm so domestic! We made PLAYDOUGH!! I've never tried this but (as I was told) it was remarkably easy. I remember my Mom making playdough for us all the time, in ANY color we wanted. I always thought it was the coolest thing in the world that we didn't have to buy playdough at the store (because of course, my mom was the smartest!) It was fun to be on the other end of this very average yet meaningful activity! Enjoy the pics!

Sorry about the delay on Baby pics. Sleep has been winning in that battle for my free time. (The blog just doesn't sound as refreshing as a nice afternoon nap!) Here are some recent pics though. FHE Fun

We had a blast this week for FHE! On Saturday we went to the Voytko Berry farm and picked blue berries (so awesome) Then for our activity on Monday we made a pie! YUMMY! Ammon took to baking quite well, he had a blast pouring ingredients and rolling out the crust, and of course sneeking blue berries when I wasn't looking. Luke was great moral support from the couch and Jimmy pulled the crust together! What a blast!

The Story Behind The Name

We've been getting alot of questions on where Luke's name came from. So I thought I'd write a little explanation. First of all, because I know he cares, Luke was originally suggested by Nick my step brother. We had been flipping through the index in the scriptures looking at names and Jim was joking about naming him some star wars name like Darth Vader or something and then Nick came up with Luke, so it went on the maybe list. The more we thought about the name the more we liked it. First of all Messegee is of Greek origin which is cool and we like our names to have special meaning, whether its a hero or a person we admire or directly connected to our place in life. Luke fell under the last category. In the scriptures, Luke is a disciple of Christ. He was Greek and his profession was as a physician or doctor. We thought that this was very fitting seeing that Messegee is Greek and Jimmy would be starting med school about the same time Luke was born. So, going with this theme we started our hunt for a middle name. Javan (pronounced Javen) is the ancient Hebrew word for someone who is Greek. So, there you go. LOL I know it's kinda silly, there are alot of Greek parts to his name and his dad's new profession but it just seemed fitting and if you could look at him now, you would see his is definitely a Luke! Also, he'll always have a fun explination for a somewhat common name.

We have another baby boy! Holly was induced Monday am, five hours of labor, fifteen minutes of pushing, and here he is! 8 lbs, 1 oz, 20 in. long. He is very healthy, a good sleeper (thankfully), and a very strong eater!! More later.
