A Perfect St. Patricks Day...
It started out with school. I know some may not consider that a part of a "perfect" day but it was for me! It was our first back from spring break so we got our mid terms back! I currently have straight A's! Yea!!! (I'm very proud of myself!) Then to top that good news off, it was 70 degrees when I got out of class! I rushed home to pick up the boys and we went on a lovely family bike ride.
Our dear friend Sarah let us borrow the buggy for the boys. They had so much fun! After the awesome bike ride we ate a quick and yummy dinner which I was able to prepare on my amazing new kitchen counter that Jimmy made for me!
After eating we needed to drop off a similar counter that we helped make for some of our friends. We had a lovely chat then decided to take a drive simply because the sunset was beautiful. As we pulled away from there home and took a right towards the west we crested a hill (unusual in Cleveland) and saw this as we stopped at the light!
Ammon summed it up with a very enthusiastic "WOW" and we all agreed. Jim proposed that we drive downtown since I had never seen it before so we continued westward into the sunset. Downtown was beautiful and surprisingly clean. We found the Rock and Roll hall of Fame and gazed out on Lake Erie. When the downtown bells chimed 8 o'clock we decided to head home to getting sleepy heads to bed. Ammon was quite taken by the bells and kept saying "Did you hear it? Dong Dong, is that bells?" over and over all the way home. It was a perfectly wonderful day. Who could ask for more?

Our newly beautified powder room
Nothing a little 'Wild Blue Yonder' and laminate floor tile couldn't fix! Now we are no longer embarrassed by our yucky bathroom! Everybody say 'Yay!'

{ Lucky You }
Lucky you!
The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog (if you have one) and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me!
I love Surprises!
P.S. As of 2/20/09 I still need one more person!!!!

What could you say with 6 words?
"Born in the desert, still thirsty."
- Georgene Nunn
"No future, no past. Not lost."
- Matt Brensilver
"Extremely responsible, secretly longed for spontaneity."
- Sabra Jennings
Yesterday on NPR they had a program on Talk of the Nation about memoirs in 6 words. Smith magazine in The spirit of Hemingway asked readers to submit a memoir of 6 words on their life, or to tell a story. I loved listening to these and Jim and I had fun writing a few of our own. Smith Mag has compiled these memoirs in a book entitled "Not Quite What I Was Planning, Memoirs by Famous and Obscure Writers" I think there is real power and rhythm in 6 words. They are so telling yet open ended and mysterious, allowing the reader to fill in the blanks while still painting a picture. So I was thinking, in honor of Valentines day and the fact that Jimmy and I got engaged 4 years ago today I would like to hear your 6 worded memoirs on Love and heartache in your lives. I'll go ahead and start with mine and the one Jimmy wrote tonight in my comments below. So in honor of love and as an anniversary gift submit yours in my comments as well! I can't wait to see what you come up with!!! Happy writing!

O-BAM-A !!!
Did you love the chanting crowd? It kind of reminded me of a baseball game. Fun, fun. Anyways, yesterday was an awesome day! What a great time to be American! I was in my History class at school during the ceremony. My nutty professor had us all stand in the hall to watch the swearing in on the big flat screens they have hanging around campus. She said "history like this needs to be experienced in a crowd!" with of course her fist in the air and an aura of a soap box near by. So crowd we did, and it was a cool experience. (She's promised to email me pictures that I will post later of us all huddled in the hallway.) I really appreciated that Obama didn't sugar coat our situation or for that matter get all melodramatic about it either. Simply put we are Americans and as Americans we know how to get down and dirty when our ideals are on the line. I also appreciated that he handed the task to us, the masses. I think that it will absolutely take the cooperation of millions to fix this mess (and one darn good leader, which we have!) The thing I love about Obama the most however, is he has the ability to inspire pride in people. I actually like saying that I'm American again, like a here and now American not the ideal what we could be someday American. I love the fact that he holds so dear our foundations and our stubbornly optimistic idealism, cheer for the underdog kinda gumption. I LOVE THAT! So to all you Americans (and non-Americans alike) get inspired with some gumption! Things are gonna change! Not only because there's a new man in the hot seat, but because America is thinking differently.
